In 2011, Givenchy introduced the Antigona bag, which has soon become one of the house’s most loved designs of all time. Created as an ode to the eponymous heroine from Greek mythology and women who embrace adventures in life, the Antigona is timelessly chic and versatile in a structured silhouette, accentuated with geometric details to capture the fierce and daring spirit.
This Fall 2020, Givenchy artistic director Clare Waight Keller is reinterpreting the iconic Antigona bag in the vein of the house’s Fall 2020 ready-to-wear collection.
Named Antigona Soft, the iconic design is given a romantic and soft leather treatment that reminds the intimacy of that favourite coat you live in, where you can always pull out something from those pockets. It sees a serene, nonchalant mood, which is a counterpoint to the sculptural shape of the original Antigona, whilst the soft calfskin and flowing silhouette collide at the couture heritage of Givenchy.
