Spring has sprung and prints are in full bloom. Colourful florals, psychedelic tie-dyes and fun polka dots have come out to play. If you ask us, we could all do with a splash of vibrant, maybe even trippy motifs to dress up and feel good in right now.
Without further ado, take a look at some of the trendiest prints to shop online from the Spring 2020 runways.
Wall-flowers

Is it even spring if there are no floral prints? We’re seeing every interpretation of the trend there is, from delicate wallpaper florals (we’re looking at Erdem) to bold graphic motifs (see Jacquemus) to exaggerated blooms.

This ‘60s trend saw a major revival this time last year. Guess what – it’s back with vigour in a range of striking monochromes as well as rainbow hues. Dior has a whole “Tie & Dior” capsule dedicated to the trend, comprising of dresses, skirts, rompers, jumpsuits and the iconic Dior Book Tote. Proenza Schouler and Stella McCartney are not short of tie dye designs either, offering sweaters, boilersuits and ribbed dresses in a variety of shades.
Tropic like its hot

Remember when Jennifer Lopez closed the Versace Spring 2020 show in that jungle print dress reimagined from her iconic Grammy outfit? It’s not the only tropical print we’ll be seeing a lot of this season. Dolce & Gabbana has a collection filled with botanical and safari motifs, whilst Burberry and Valentino have also featured wildlife-inspired designs on their Spring 2020 runways – and we spotted some monkey business going on.
Polka dot plot

Another timeless print that’s coming in hot this spring is the humble polka dot. There are classic black and white pieces (Dries Van Noten) and bolder red and white interpretations (Michael Kors), but there’s also a fun mix of large and small dotted patterns printed on asymmetrical dresses (Altuzarra). On the other hand, Self-Portrait gives the youthful print a more feminine expression with tulle fabrications and smocking details.
Animal instinct

It would seem that the animal print trend has lived on for yet another season, with brands like Ganni and Saint Laurent in the lead. Fashion’s favourite wild cat – the leopard – has its print across blouses, skirts, dresses, swimwear and accessories. At Burberry and Proenza Schouler, the leopard print appears alongside snake or zebra prints in a clash of animal instincts.
